William Foote Be very careful, he had a piss poor week to be nice, lost a lot of units. Cold at this time. Nice write up though, use it for what it is worth to you.
2 units on Green Bay -5
Philadelphia at Green Bay Game Notes: Philly started the season at 0-2 both SU and ATS and was also 2-3 SU and 1-4 ATS at one point. McNabb looked horrible and the Philly offense was pathetic. Their once incredible defense was just mediocre. This was an extremely difficult reality for me, as the Eagles had been one of the most outstanding pointspread bets in all of professional sports. A blind bet on Philly was a 65% ATS proposition the past several years and I used them often. But the facts were the facts, and Philadelphia was not performing. Here is a quote from a previous report I had done earlier this season; This is not the same Eagles team we have come to know. First of all, McNabb has not been himself since breaking his leg last season. He used to be a Top 3 level QB in our rankings, as we absolutely love QB’s of his ability. We speak of McNair in this light all the time now. It is a QB that can buy time with their athleticism, use their speed to allude rushers and use their strength to break one armed tackles from falling defensive linemen. This then allows them to throw down field, to receivers that have now had time to break open, or simply run for a first down. It is a proverbial nightmare for defensive coordinators, as there is
Literally no way to stop it. Unfortunately for Philly, McNabb really has not been playing in that fashion and it all started with the NFC championship loss vs. Tampa Bay last season. In addition, the Eagles defense in past years was one that caused all sorts of problems with blitzes, speed and intensity, which subsequently caused mistakes and turnovers by opposing offenses. Perhaps the most telling stat of all is that the Eagles are -3 in TO margin this year. Note that they were +14 heading into last season’s NFC Championship game and have always been among the league leaders in that category. A few weeks following those statements, Philly started winning again and are now 3-0 both SU and ATS their past three overall. So the question begs to be asked; is this Philadelphia team back to business as usual? My honest opinion is no. The Eagles have been thoroughly unimpressive in their last three wins, and they came against teams with a combined record of 7-17 on the season. They needed a miracle punt return for a TD to beat the Giants and did not at all dominate the hapless Falcons last week. Atlanta actually led 13-10 at half. Perhaps I are wrong and a win here may change my mind about the Eagles, but I am not buying that Philly is back just yet. Then you have the Packers. I had cited on several occasions they were overrated, but changed my tune a bit last week in this report and indicated that Green Bay was starting to come together and play very some solid football. Well, they are fresh off an awesome performance at Minnesota and boast the NFL’s third best offense. And while the Packers are only 2-2 SU and ATS their last four overall, consider that their last four opponents have a combined record of 25-7!!! It bears repeating that the Eagles last three opponents have a combined 7-17 record. Green Bay is 25-8 ATS their last thirty three at home vs. teams with a winning record and Lambeau Field at night in November starts to become an awfully formidable 12th man. Put me down on the Packers in this one.
